Horse Training convenient to the Columbus, Ohio area is offered in Western disciplines.
Herb Walker has started colts for 50 years and has demonstrated his skill in the
show arena in roping, reining, western pleasure, trail, and halter with the making
of several APHA Champions. He is also a retired APHA judge. Herb has turned over
the starting of colts and training to our younger trainer Laura, but remains involved
as an advisor and coach.
As requested, horses can be started using the natural horsemanship techniques of
Clinton Anderson. Sherri Walker spent two weeks at Clintons first colt breaking
clinic and appears on the cover of Clintons problem horse DVD. Sherri has completed
numerous clinics throughout the years. She has studied with Lynn Palm, Richard Shrake,
Martha Josey, Talmadge Green, and Marlene McRae. She has earned numerous OPHC awards,
APHA ROMs, and NBHA awards. Sherri is also a resource available for training horses.
Walker Training Stables is excited to announce the addition of reining trainer,
Patrick Schwarz, to its facility. In 2008, Patrick took the stud horse, Hollywoody,
all the way in the NRHA World to win the Limited Open World Champion and Reserve
Intermediate World Champion Titles. Patrick has been working with horses for 15
years. After high school and many years of 4H, he went to work for Sam Smith Reining
Horses and Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses in Texas (Tom McCutcheon is a USET Gold
Medalist and Million Dollar Rider). Four years later, Patrick returned to Ohio to
start his own business training and showing horses.
He enjoys working with young horses that need to learn everything to the horses
that just need a "tune up" and go show. In 2006, Patrick won the Limited Open Congress
class with an All Right with Me gelding. In addition to his world champion titles
in 2008, Patrick won the CORHA and OVRHA Limited Champion Titles. He was in the
Top Ten in the Appaloosa World Reining. He has had numerous Top 5's in MRHA and
FRHA Derbys. And in 2009, he was a finalist in the Congress Reining Futurity with
a Whizard's Oscar gelding. Patrick feels his greatest accomplishments have been
with his customers when he has coached them to many top regional placings. Patrick
will be going to top reining competitions in 2011 with client horses, including
two owned by Walker Training Stables. We look forward to an exciting year and invite
others to join us. Patrick will be accepting training horses from the outside for
starting under saddle to multiple performance disciplines.
Training is available in dressage, showmanship, western pleasure, horsemanship,
hunter under saddle, equitation, trail, reining and barrel racing. The fee for training
is $750 per month which includes board.
